An eye on baby boomers since 2022

There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.

Forget retirement. These baby boomers are amassing huge social media followings

At 62, Helen Polise isn’t considering retirement. Not remotely. Her job: TikTok star. Polise’s account “The Muthership” has nearly 1 million followers. She started the account during the pandemic as a distraction and a way to have fun — but soon it became a second career in the making. Authenticity sells — to the tune of millions of dollars. Brands are taking notice and are working with older influencers or “granfluencers,” as they are affectionately known in the industry.

Waitress reveals the difference between how 'boomers' and 'Gen Zs' leave their tables after eating at restaurants

The waitress filmed a video depicting how a group of ‘Boomers’ left their table before leaving a restaurant and how a group of ‘Gen Zers’ left theirs.“Here’s all I’m saying,” Brande started off her video, which has received over 1 million likes. She turned the camera to one of her tables, with plates, utensils, napkins, and straw wrappers scattered about. “This is a table of five boomers that I took some plates out of the way of already,” she shared. She then panned the camera to the table directly next to it, which had plates and glasses stacked into a neat pile, with garbage placed onto one plate.

“This is a table of six Gen Zs. They did that,” Brande noted how the group organized and cleaned their table prior to leaving the restaurant. “Just sayin'.” “They get paid to do that vs. 'We know restaurant life is hard, let us help you out,’” the waitress captioned her video.

After the video hit 9.3 million views, Brande was forced to delete it after corporate discovered it. She has since quit her job and reposted the viral video.

That’s according to a nationwide poll conducted by the makers of the game Candy Crush, who set out to shed light on the differences in the ways different generations use their mobile devices.

Debunking this myth about baby boomers also reveals something about Gen Z

There’s more than a 60-year age gap between the oldest Baby Boomer and the youngest member of Gen Z. And for years we’ve heard how different these generations can be, from how they spend their money to how they work to how they use emojis. We’ve seen “OK Boomer” trend on TikTok as Gen Z criticized their elders, and heard Boomers retort that younger generations should “stop whining.” But Baby Boomers and Gen Z have something in common that’s often overlooked: Bias is shaping the way we talk about them, allowing stereotypes and myths to drown out facts and reality.

The great wealth transfer! Baby boomers to pass on record-breaking $53 TRILLION to their children by 2045 - here’s how YOU can avoid a shock tax bill

Baby boomers are set to pass on $53 trillion to their children by 2045 in what experts have called the 'greatest wealth transfer in history.’ The generation - who are aged between 59 and 77 today - are famed for benefiting from great social mobility when house prices were low and labor conditions strong. And now they are transferring their money to their less economically fortunate children. The boom is largely attributed to rising property prices which have shot up by around 500 percent since 1983 - when baby boomers were in their 20s and 30s and just getting onto the property ladder.
