An eye on baby boomers since 2022

Today, I am 64 years old. I still look good. I appreciate and enjoy my age... A lot of people resist transition and therefore never allow themselves to enjoy who they are. Embrace the change, no matter what it is; once you do, you can learn about the new world you're in and take advantage of it. You still bring to bear all your prior experience, but you're riding on another level. It's completely liberating.

– Poet and activist Nikki Giovanni

The 25 greatest muscle cars of all time

When we think about the greatest muscle cars of all time, we’re looking at all the icons, the kings, the best of the trims across Ford, Pontiac, Dodge, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, and more. Many of our inclusions highlight the rarer models that are becoming valuable collectibles (often due to low production numbers), but increasing valuations are just one metric. Overall style and visceral appeal are just as potent.

I am not Alexa (but my husband seems to think I am)

Our vacation has come and gone, and one thing I am sick of is being the information center for my husband. He will ask me things expecting me to have all the answers, like Alexa.

“Do they have a 24-hour Dunkin’ in the area?”

“How long is the bus tour?”

“Chinese food would be nice; Where’s a good place for that?”

“How old is Morgan Freeman?” (While watching TV)

“Where can I get a pair of white shorts?” (They aren’t in style, so it’s always an ordeal finding them.)

“Where can we get the cheapest lobster rolls?”

“It’s raining. What can we do now?”

“What’s this rash I have? Hopefully, not poison ivy.”

Joyce Carol Oates figured out the secret to immortality

“I have,” Joyce Carol Oates says, “so many ideas.” That’s putting it mildly. It’s hard to think of another writer with as fecund and protean an imagination as the 85-year-old, who is surely on any shortlist of America’s greatest living writers. Oates has published 62 novels, 47 short-story collections, 16 collections of nonfiction, 9 collections of poetry, plays and books for children and young adults, as well as a torrent of tweets (the latter of which occasionally get her in trouble). The sheer quantity of her output, impressive as it may be, is almost beside the point. The real achievement is that the quality of that work is so consistently high. “I have a stack of notes for my next novel, and another novel, and I have a lot of short stories,” Oates says excitedly. “The one I’m doing now, the reader’s going to be surprised.”

Heartwarming: Family raises $250,000 for 72 year old pizza delivery driver who fell while delivering their food

A family from South Carolina has raised more than $250,000 for their 72-year-old Domino's delivery driver who was injured while delivering their food. The fall was caught on the family's home security video and the footage was viewed over 3 million times on TikTok. Kevin Keighron, the homeowner, opened the door to find Dominos delivery driver Barbara Gillespie struggling to get up and apologizing for dropping the food. He reassured her it was fine and he and his wife, Lacey Klein, set up a GoFundMe page to leave an extra “tip” for Gillespie. The fundraiser was a huge success. Over 14,000 people donated to the cause. Gillespie said she is in awe of the amount of money donated to her by strangers. Gillespie is now retired.

Baby boomers want workplace tech and collaboration while Gen Z crave social conscience and inclusion

Baby boomers want better technology in the office to help them be more productive. They also want face-to-face collaboration and team spirit more than any other generation. Generation Z, the youngest in the workplace, is the most bothered about having access to an environmentally responsible workplace – with 20% saying offices would be more inviting if they improved environmental practices such as better recycling and EV charging.
