An eye on baby boomers since 2022
“Millions long for immortality who do not know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.”

Dating after 60: A lot of roses, some thorns
For “The Golden Bachelor” and other singles of a certain age, there may be bad dates and false starts. But romance can be infinitely better after decades of life experience.
When Janet Ha, 65, first tried online dating in February, she found it “confusing and weird.”
Her son’s 20-something ex helped her make a profile on Bumble, but all of her initial matches were focused on hooking up. “I had checked ‘something casual’ — because I didn’t think I was looking for a relationship — but I didn’t realize what that meant on Bumble,” Ms. Ha said, laughing.
‘Never too late’: 14 quotes about late-in-life success
Although society often places a disproportionate emphasis on attaining certain milestones at a young age, success is possible at any stage of life. Age brings with it unique insights associated with our lived experiences, which can lead to innovative ideas and solutions. But it’s not just a matter of having more experience — as we age, we may also become more resilient and more committed to our goals. Having overcome challenges and setbacks earlier in our lives, we’re often better equipped to successfully navigate the obstacles that come later.

Boomers will be the last Georgians who speak with a Southern accent
Bid farewell to the Southern twang.
Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But Georgians are high-tailing away from that grits-and-gravy drawl faster than a scalded dog.
A collaborative study between linguists at the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech tells us that the Southern accent is disappearing. Baby Boomers still sound similar to their parents. But among Gen Xers, they discovered, the accent “fell off a cliff.”
Baby boom or bust?
Let’s be honest, for those of us born between the years 1947 and 1964 being tagged as the baby boomer generation has its drawbacks. Think about it: An entire cohort would forever be identified by the fact that our parents decided to celebrate the end of war by having sex—a lot of it, if you do the numbers. What kind of banner is that to be raised under? As hippies gave way to yuppies who seem to be giving way to "grumpies," it’s clear that this generation does not intend to “go quietly into that good night.” Perhaps we could aim a little higher and bring back dignity and grace to aging.
